At the Heart of Our Community

AT THE HEART OF OUR COMMUNITY

More Than Just a Veterinary Practice

At Seaforth Vets, we don’t just work in Seaforth, Balgowlah, and Mosman, we live here. We believe that a veterinary clinic should be a pillar of the local community, providing a safe haven for pets and a supportive environment for the families who love them.

For our team, success isn’t just measured by successful surgeries or accurate diagnoses; it’s measured by the strength of the bonds we build with our neighbours and the ways we give back to the community that has trusted us for years.

SUPPORTING BEAR COTTAGE: CARE WHEN IT MATTERS MOST

One of our most cherished community partnerships is our work with Bear Cottage in Manly. Bear Cottage is a dedicated children's hospice that provides palliative care for families and their children during incredibly difficult times.

The presence of a companion animal can offer a unique form of comfort and joy that medicine alone cannot. To support this mission, our team provides veterinary care for the companion dogs at Bear Cottage at no charge. It is a small gesture, but one we are deeply committed to, ensuring that these special animals are always healthy and ready to provide a much-needed cuddle to the families who need them most.

OUR GAP PARTNERSHIP

Our connection to the Greyhounds As Pets (GAP) programme is a defining part of our clinic’s identity. Led by Dr Lewis Hunt, who has been an advocate for the breed for over a decade, we are proud to serve as a bridge between a greyhound's racing career and their retirement on the couch.

We are actively involved in:

  • Adoption Days: Helping assess and prepare up to 40 greyhounds at a time for their transition into family life.
  • Behavioural Assessments: Using our expertise to ensure every greyhound is matched with the perfect family environment.
  • Community Education: Helping our local community understand why these gentle, "needle-nosed" giants make such incredible pets.
A Familiar Face (and a Biscuit) Around Every Corner

A FAMILIAR FACE (AND A BISCUIT) AROUND EVERY CORNER

We love that our clinic has become a regular stop on many local dog-walking routes. Our reception team has been with us for years, some for over a decade, and they take pride in knowing the names and stories of the pets and families who walk through our doors.

It’s not uncommon for a dog to "insist" on dragging their owner into our reception area just to say hello and receive a liver treat. We foster this environment because we want our patients to feel that the vet is a place of friendship, not fear. Being part of the local community means:

  • Supporting Local Families: Understanding the financial and emotional needs of our neighbours.
  • Generational Care: Looking after pets from their first puppy visit through to their senior years and beyond.
  • Open Doors: Whether you’re popping in for advice, a prescription refill, or just a quick hello, you are always part of the Seaforth Vets family.

THE SEAFORTH SPIRIT

COLLABORATIVE & KIND

The collaborative spirit you see in our medical team is born from our community values. We believe that by supporting one another as colleagues, we provide a better, more empathetic service to you. No owner is ever left to "fend for themselves" when facing a difficult health decision, and no pet is ever treated as just another appointment.
"Being part of the local community is a big part of why we do what we do. We love being a place where people feel they can just drop in. It’s about building those relationships that last a lifetime."
